Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would put her at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. These traits were natural for an Irish-born child surrounded by gifted parents as well as a loving and supportive family. Maureen made her entrance into this caring haven on August 17 1920 at Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons placed second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen was a great athlete and was a gruelling athlete in games when she was young. Her natural ability to perform perfectly complemented her love of athletics. It was evident when she was awarded each Feis for drama and theater that Ireland had to offer. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dreams of classical theater as well as singing opera.
